Finnish charging operator Plugit expands into Sweden with new heavy transport hub
Finland’s largest EV charging provider Plugit is entering the Swedish market with a new high-power charging hub along the E4 in Klevshult. Marking its official launch with an opening event on September 1st, this newly rebranded location represents the company’s first step in expanding its commercial transport charging network into Sweden.
STOCKHOLM (September 1, 2026) – Finnish EV charging provider Plugit has entered the Swedish market. The company has completed the rebranding and integration of its first Swedish public high-power charging hub. The new hub is located in Klevshult just south of Jönköping, on the E4 highway that connects Scandinavia to mainland Europe. The station features eight ultra-fast charging points that deliver 400 kW each. While already serving drivers during its operational transition, the fully rebranded facility will officially host its launch event on September 1st.
Linking Finnish and Swedish transit corridors
Sweden marks Plugit’s first international expansion outside its home market. With ten times the number of electric trucks compared to Finland and serving as the global headquarters for truck industry heavyweights Volvo and Scania, Sweden is the natural next step for the company.

Operating across public networks and corporate depots
While the European public charging market is currently experiencing a wave of consolidation, Plugit relies on a dual operational model. In Finland, the company operates both a public highway network and builds private depot charging systems for major industrial and logistics firms, including PostNord, SSAB, and Posti Group.
Through this dual model, Plugit serves as a single-source supplier for different kinds of charging scenarios required to anchor the transport sector’s electrification. The company provides end-to-end hardware and software solutions that cover the distinct needs of passenger cars, public transport buses, and heavy commercial logistics. This approach bridges the gap between public on-route charging and private, non-public fleet infrastructure.
With an estimated 80 percent of heavy vehicle charging expected to take place in corporate depots rather than on public roads, the transition brings operational complexity for haulage companies. Many operators run on tight margins and face vehicle investment costs up to three times higher than diesel equivalents. At the same time they also have to navigate grid subscriptions, transformers, and ongoing hardware maintenance.
– Moving from a traditional diesel tank to managing high-voltage grid subscriptions and hardware maintenance is a major shift for any transport company. Most operators want to focus on their core logistics business, not energy infrastructure. We can remove that burden by taking on the technical and financial risks. We fund, build, and maintain the infrastructure, allowing clients to lease or purchase it as a service, Johan Mild explains.
Moving from goals to practical action
The transport sector accounts for roughly a third of Sweden’s total carbon emissions, making the electrification of major highways essential for meeting climate targets. While transport buyers increasingly demand fossil-free freight, operators face low local diesel prices that reduce the immediate financial incentive to switch.
By providing tailored depot installations alongside its public highway network, combined with in-house customer service and integrated emissions reporting data, Plugit aims to lower the practical barriers for Nordic haulers and companies with their own fleets.
