Plugit and Hesburger Partner to Accelerate the Electrification of Traffic
Plugit is expanding its public charging network through a new partnership with Hesburger. High-power charging stations are being installed at selected Hesburger restaurants across Finland, making fast and convenient EV charging part of everyday travel. During this autumn alone, stations have already been opened at six locations. Plugit’s public charging network currently consists of 130 charging stations nationwide.
Plugit has been working with electric mobility since 2012. Today, the company operates more than 17,000 charging points, and over the past two years has increasingly invested in the expansion of its own public charging network—of which these newly opened stations are a prime example.
“Hesburger is an excellent partner for us, not only because of the locations of their restaurants, but also because of their strong sustainability ambitions. Both of our companies want to take responsibility for building a better tomorrow,” says Topi Aaltonen, Head of Plugit Charging Network at Plugit Finland.
High-Power Charging Where People Already Stop
The charging stations installed at Hesburger locations are high-power DC chargers, offering charging capacities of up to 400 kW. Under optimal conditions, a passenger car can be charged in under 30 minutes. Actual charging speed depends on the vehicle and external conditions.
“Choosing the right locations and offering efficient charging is key for public charging. At our Hesburger sites, charging sessions have lasted on average 25 minutes, during which just under 30 kWh of energy has been delivered. This means the average driver charges for around ten euros per visit. As winter approaches, EV drivers should remember to precondition their battery to make the most of their charging stop,” Aaltonen adds.
The collaboration between Plugit and Hesburger covers the sites already announced, as well as future restaurant locations where conditions allow.
Charging as a Natural Part of the Customer Experience
“EV charging points are an important additional service, and more and more of our customers are using them. The number of electric vehicles in Finland continues to grow, and we are pleased to develop the charging network together with Plugit. Thanks to this partnership, our customers can take a break and enjoy our restaurant services while their car charges quickly. For us, it is important to be part of enabling greener mobility,” says Janne Aaltonen, Property Manager at Hesburger.
