Plugit Finland has received €3.32 million in EU funding to build distribution infrastructure

Plugit has been awarded funding to build an electric vehicle charging network under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) transport programme, with the European Commission awarding Finnish companies a total of around €5.3 million for two projects. The Transport Programme Committee decided to award the grants on 5 February 2025.
The EU is funding the construction of electricity distribution infrastructure and promoting decarbonisation of transport through the trans-European TEN-T road network under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) transport programme. In the fifth round of the Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Facility (AFIF), the European Commission allocated a total of €422 million.
Plugit Finland Oy received €3.32 million in funding for the construction of high-capacity charging stations for electric transport. The project will build 17 electric charging stations for heavy goods vehicles and ten for light vehicles in Finland.
“We are pleased. The Plugit Pro DC charging network for commercial vehicles can now develop as planned, in line with the increase in the use of electric transport vehicles. Over the past year, Plugit has been actively modelling heavy transport and industrial traffic on the TEN-T road network. Based on this, it is reasonable to argue that public commercial charging stations will play a key role in accelerating electrification and meeting emissions targets,” comments Plugit Business Development Manager Aleksi Virtapuro.
